In honor of my mom, I am launching a movement on Mother’s Day weekend to petition the US Congress to establish a National Ban on Hand-Held Cell Phone Use While Driving.

 

My mom was killed instantly on impact when a distracted driver ran a red light and crashed into us at full speed. This left me in critical condition, in a coma for a month and with permanent disabilities.

 

Why is it legal to drive while on a cell phone? My mom’s death could have been prevented, my brain injury may not have happened. How many more people have to die?

 

I'm not the same person I was before the accident on August 13th of 2011. Not many people get a chance to start life over. I did, and I know the reason why I'm still alive…to help make the roads safer for us all.

 

Distracted driving needs to stop!
